How to Reach Wayanad by Air
The nearest airport is the Calicut International Airport, 54 km away. It is for both international and domestic purposes. Some of the major airlines which serve the airport are Air India, Jet Airways, Oman Airways and Saudi Airlines.
There are buses, cars and taxis available at the airport to get you to Wayanad.
How to Reach Wayanad by Rail
Kozhikode is also the closest railhead to Wayanad. Kozhikode is a major station on the Konkan line for all Kerala bound trains. It is well connected to other major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Coimbatore, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Rajdhani Express, Poona Express, Veraval Express, West Coast Express and the MDU-Jammu Express operate to and from Wayanad.
How to Reach Wayanad by Bus
Wayanad has convenient road connections to Kozhikode, Mysore, Kunnur and Udhagamandalam (Ooty). Buses, either of the State Transport Corporation or a swift private coach, also go to Wayanad: alternatively, visitors can hire a cab or rent a car if they don't have their own transportation.
Getting Around Wayanad
The major transport hubs are the Kalpetta and Sultan Bathery. Local buses, jeeps, autos and rickshaws are available here. Autos can also be hailed from the streets, however having your own car is the most convenient way of getting around Wayanad.

Start from Bangalore and take the Mysore Road.

Pass by Bangalore Rural on SH 17 to reach Channapatna, which is known for its bright, lacquer paint coated wooden toys. So, you can pick up some on the way.

Near Channapatna, you will come across Kamath’s Restaurant, on your left hand side where you may halt to grab a quick bite.

You will pass by a petrol pump on your left, stop here to refuel you car tank.

Driving on Mysore road you will also come across Cafe Coffee Day and McDonalds.

If you are looking forward to eat south Indian food the Indradhanush on your way is a good option.

After a short break, head onto SH 17 to reach the town of Mandya, through Maddur.

Mandya is 38 kms drive from Channapatna.

You will again pass by a petrol pump on your left just before Mandya.

From Mandya, follow the sign boards to stay on SH 17 till you reach the town of Mysore, which is at a distance of 46 kms.

Mysore is ideal for stopover.

From Mysore, take SH 33 to get onto Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Hwy/NH 766.

Drive for 53 kms and you will reach a HP petrol pump on your left.

Halt here to take a break or get your car tires checked.

Follow the sign boards from here to reach Gundlupet, which is just a few kilometers away.

You may also stop at Gundlepet to grab a quick bite in any of the local restaurants if you have not had meal by now.

Restart your journey and take Gundlupet-Chamarajanagara Road, drive for few meters and turn left onto Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Hwy.

drive for some 57 kms on this road and you will pass by Dottappankulam IBP Petrol Pump, drive on for 10 more kilometers and take a slight right onto Meenangady - Panamaram Road.

Keep driving on this road and you will reach your destination Wayanad after some 10 kms.
