Ayurveda means science of Life - derived out of two Sanskrit words, Ayu meaning life
and Veda meaning the knowledge.

As per Ayurveda, the universe comprises of five eternal elements - space, air, fire, water and earth. The human
body is also composed of these 5 elements. These
elements in the environment have  an influence on
human bodies and they combine to create certain physiological functions..

Unique proportions of these three ‘doshas’ are found in all human beings. and they vary in each individual. Ayurveda identifies each person as a unique mixture of these three ‘doshas’ When any of these doshas become accumulated, Ayurveda suggests specific remedial measures to assist the individual in reducing the ‘dosha’ .

Component of each Dosha

  • Pitta = Fire + Water

  • Kapha = Earth + Water

  • Vatha = Air + Space

Qualities of Doshas

  • Kapha = Cohension or construction, and other qualities are cold, etc.

  • Pitta = Transformation, and other qualities are light, etc.
